2016 JUNIOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP

The Aurora Flyers returned from the Junior Olympic National Championship in Humble, Texas with 32 National Medals! The meet was held from August 1st through August 6th. Individual honors are listed below:

Fourteen-year-old Marcellus Moore won the 100 meters and tied a 20-year-old record! He ran the 100 meters in 10.81 seconds. Marcellus also took second in the 200 meters with a time of 22.03.

Fourteen-year-old Brenden Turner took 4th place in the 400 meters with a time of 50.86 seconds.

In the 4x100 meters, Marcellus Moore, Brenden Turner, Kyle Langlier and Jalin Eison took 2nd place with a time of 43.6.

Fourteen-year-old boys Hector Remos, Jaylin Eison, Brenden Turner and Marcellus Moore took 4th place in the 4x400 meters with a time of 3:29.

Dajour Miles defended her 400 meter championship winning in a time of 53.98. This was the ninth fastest time in Illinois history. Dajour was also 4th in the 200 meters with a time of 24.1.

Sammar Miller won the 400 meters in a time of 52.93 placing her as the third fastest time in Illinois history and the 7th fastest time in US history. Sammar also placed 7th in the 200 meters with a time of 24.84.

Savannah Long placed 4th in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.54.

Tyler Kirkwood placed 4th in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 14.4 seconds.

Tyler Morris placed 4th in the high jump at 5'7" and placed third in the long jump at 18'9".

Chinar Caldwell placed 4th in the long jump at 13'7".

The 15-16 girls 4x800 meter relay placed 2nd with a time of 9:38. Runners included Shaheeda Dade of Chicago, Gabrielle Horton of Evanston, Abigail Flammersfeld of Oswego, and Katelynne Hart.

The Flyers placed 4th in the 4x400 meters with a time of 3:54. Runners included Abigail Flammersfeld, Likkaya Keys, Shaheeda Dade and Dajour Miles.

Katelynne Hart won the 1500 meters in 5:41 and the 3000 meters in 9:48. Katelynne also placed 2nd in the 800 meters with a time of 2:13.

Brandon Adams placed 4th in the 400 meters with a time of 48.49 seconds.
